Nancy Webb
![]() Nancy Webb is an award-winning visual communication strategist and has been the owner of Nancy Webb Graphic Design for more than 25 years. Her early career in computer programming, struggling to use nearly impenetrable computer manuals, determined who she was to become as a graphic designer. Creating more comfortable, intuitive, accessible, clear, and useable documents of all kinds became her core passion. Nancy’s unique blend of expertise in branding and books, and her immersion in text design, have proven ideal for designing proposals and other lengthy, complex business communications. This background, coupled with her design and strategy experience, led Nancy to develop Page ArchitectureTM. Addressing the visual aspect of written verbal communication, Page Architecture is an approach to document design that integrates the underlying structure of the page with all its various elements. Using this approach makes it possible to create a highly effective and positive experience for a reader. Because the characteristics of documents become the perceived characteristics of the team, and often of the entire organization, it is of particular importance for people who develop proposals, and for business communicators in general. Nancy has created identity systems, collateral materials, and books—and developed design directions and long-term strategies—working with wide variety of clients. These clients have ranged from large (inter)national corporations like Adobe Systems, Apple, IBM, and Qvidian, and publishers like UC Press, Chronicle Books, and Heyday Press, to local small and medium businesses and startups. For 10 years Nancy taught the Strategy and the Branding & Marketing Materials units in the National Speakers Association yearlong Speakers Academy program in Northern California. She has delivered well-received presentations to local and national conferences throughout the country, and conducted intensive Graphics Clinics for small, committed groups of professionals, business people, and teams. What people say about working with Nancy
“Nancy’s knowledge about how people read pages and how to highlight critical points has transformed proposals for our clients. We’ve evolved from difficult to read, two column overload to layouts that breathe and allow the reviewers to quickly find key information for their evaluations.” —Cinda Bond, Principal, Bond & Kennedy and The Proposal Doctors “Nancy understands how a company's documents shape the world's perception of their brand and solutions. She teaches others to harness the principals of design to shape how a company is perceived and foster clear communication while influencing (when applicable) the reader.” —Mike Patterson CPP APMP Fellow, Principal, 24 Hour Company “If you are seeking top-notch talent to develop your corporate identity system, look no further. If you are seeking someone you can learn from in terms of how to display information on a page that actually gets read . . . look no further. Nancy Webb is in a league of her own. Nancy became my ‘go to’ person for my corporate identity system in the late 1990s, carefully expanding and evolving my system to keep it relevant to my changing market, and I STILL take great pride in the way this system represents my business. It has stood the test of time and is a real testament to her skill and design creativity. I also discovered a talent she has that is even more rare—and very powerful. Nancy excels at understanding how to represent information on a page. This skill level is so rare I wouldn’t even begin to know where else to find it (and, why would I?). Readability is a major issue for people who create content or rely on it for success. Her skill at designing a page to improve readability is so powerful I can’t begin to articulate it in this short space. She transforms the page. I have learned a lot from her over the years in this area, and each time I meet with her I learn more.” —Celeste Bishop, President, Bishop Market Resources “Nancy presented ‘Page Architecture at Work’ at our APMP NY Metro Chapter meeting. Her presentation was engaging and extremely relevant. She provided real-life proposal examples to demonstrate and underscore her points, and her guidance is very valuable for proposal professionals.” —Margaret McGuire, CP APMP, Senior Proposal Manager, TeleCommunications Systems “Nancy has that rare ability both to understand your business at warp speed and make spot-on recommendations for your brand that work. She's a strategic systems thinker who relishes precision and details. And Nancy hides another talent: she excels at book design. So if you're thinking of writing a book, be sure to talk to her before you start writing.” —Roberta Guise, Founder and Principal, Guise Marketing & PR “Nancy Webb’s workshops and Graphics Clinics are enjoyable and offered many insights. What else could you ask for?” —Michael Soon Lee, President, EthnoConnect, Dean, National Speakers Association ProTrack Program “Nancy designed my business identity and consulted on the look and feel of both my websites. She has a way of capturing what a business is about and bringing out that identity in elegant, clean, sophisticated design that never overwhelms or detracts from the message, but only enhances it. I've also attended several of her Visual Communication workshops -- fascinating and helpful, with practical exercises that trained my eye to see the impact of different design choices. Nancy is a delight to work with. I highly recommend her.” —Janet Bailey, Janet Bailey Communications |
